Merlin Entertainments Group, a 1.5Bn GBP entertainment giant with 127 attractions and 66 million guests per year, wanted to go from being a “good” procurement organization to being a “great” one. To do this, they chose Scanmarket as their provider for eRFx and eAuction solutions. Merlin already had a P2P platform in place and wished to complement it with eSourcing tools, but wanted to select best of breed rather than necessarily having a one-stop solution, as maximising sourcing results was of paramount importance to Group Procurement Director, John Butcher…”We wanted to ensure that we had the best eSourcing tool for our business. As part of their selection process, Merlin went through a rigorous procedure including full competitive market review, supplier due diligence, reference inquiries, and trial events. When it became time to get started, they were off-and-running quickly. Moving forward, Merlin is expanding quickly. “We’re already evolving the way we use eSourcing to suit our business with great success. Building on the early events, we’re now using the modules in several countries as well as for external and internal use. The diversity of spend is ever broader and the type of events we’re running has been expanding, from the simple RFI’s through to the most complex, each time with great results. We’ll continue our journey with Scanmarket in the coming months and years, driving more and more spend through the platform and using the wide range of event functionality. We will also consider expanding the range of modules to compliment the results and efforts already achieved.
